A Breakthrough for Product Research on the Internet!
Product Fast Search functionality from ConsumerDesk.
ConsumerDesk, an application service provider for collaborative commerce and leading supplier of independent product selection tools, has made a breakthrough in the field of consumer product searching. Filling in a brand name, product name or type in ConsumerDesk’s Product Fast Search application will find you matching products in record time. This search capability has been implemented with several of ConsumerDesk’s business partners and a demo version is also available at http://www.consumerdesk.co.uk.
On the demo site home page you will find this functionality next to the ‘Search by product’ label. Upon entering a product, brand name, or product type, a comprehensive list of matching products will be displayed immediately. Next to every product or type the visitor will find access to full specifications, information about availability on the Internet, and access to a range of independent online reviews.
Matthew Finlay, Managing Director of ConsumerDesk UK, is enthusiastic about the benefits of Product Fast Search. “With this application we are able to oil the wheels of commerce by putting consumers directly in front of the products they are seeking to buy. Gone are the days when shoppers were dependent upon basic price comparison sites or simply trawling etailers’ sites. ConsumerDesk’s core mission is assisting Internet media owners in converting their traffic from browsing to buying, by delivering compelling purchasing applications containing integrated tools and content. Product Fast Search is a key application in this mission. There is currently particular demand for this service from portals, search engines and other ASPs,” Finlay remarked.
ConsumerDesk in Europe
ConsumerDesk has native language sites in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Spain. From early 2001, additional sites will become active in France, Italy, Belgium and Poland. The company is working with more than forty large organisations across Europe including Excite, Lastminute.com, IDG, Scandinavia Online, Planet Internet, AltaVista, MSN and Startsiden. In December 2000 there were over 3 million visitors to ConsumerDesk powered sites.
“We aim to reach the widest possible audience,” explains Matthew Finlay. “We want every consumer in Europe to be able to use our service via one of their favourite sites. We can achieve this by supplying the service as a rapidly deployable ASP solution. At the moment we are able to offer 500,000 products and this figure is growing every week. Retailers and Internet media companies are now developing the next generation of shopping sites and ConsumerDesk is benefiting from the market having reached the level of maturity where organisations recognise the need and value in delivering real assistance to consumers in their shopping activities.
ConsumerDesk is an innovative application service provider for collaborative commerce, connecting buyers and suppliers on a pan-European level. ConsumerDesk can enhance conversion and increase revenue by providing superior product and supplier information, infrastructure and intermediary services. The company offers tailored products and services, from a platform designed to eliminate implementation risk and accelerate the buying process.
The ConsumerDesk database contains comprehensive information for more than a hundred product groups, across a wide range of consumer categories. For each product, the visitor will find full specifications, information about availability on the Internet or in the high street and access to a range of independent online reviews.
ConsumerDesk was founded in early 1999 and currently employs over one hundred people in eleven different countries. In addition to the headquarters in the Netherlands, the company has offices in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Spain, with offices in France, Italy, Belgium, and Poland opening shortly and further European countries in the near future.
