Pressbox (Press Release) - SUMMARY
Recent press reports have cast doom and gloom over the telecoms sector and its future, with profits warnings and job losses for some of the major telecoms firms. However, as you may know, Durlacher has recently published a report predicting a rosy future for the mobile Internet, saying WAP will overcome initial disappointment and will succeed thanks to GPRS.

pricejamieson, a UK digital communications recruitment consultancy has a dedicated telecoms department, and has seen demand increase by 100% from the UK for candidates who have been involved in the development of wireless services in countries operating in much more advanced markets than the UK, such as Finland.

pricejamieson is responding to this demand by forming a network of likeminded recruitment partners across Europe and has started the ball rolling by forming its first partnership in Finland which will give the UK access to a whole different set of skills and experience within the telecoms market.

Andrew Swift, joint Managing Director of pricejamieson is available for comment - please contact Julie Watson on 020 7385 0009 or email julie@big-mouths.com to arrange an interview.

FULL RELEASE
London March 21st 2001: pricejamieson, the UK’s leading digital communications recruitment consultancy, has responded to the overwhelming demand for wireless skills in the UK by announcing a strategic partnership with IT-Gateway, Finland’s #1 Wireless and Telecoms recruitment firm.

As the UK telecoms market prepares for the arrival of 3G and GPRS, demand for skilled applications developers has risen over 100 percent. With mobile devices forecast to multiply to one billion and mobile Internet expected to surpass wired Internet in two years*, there is a lack of skilled talent to meet demand and ensure the UK is not left behind in the telecoms race. pricejamieson’s partnership with IT-Gateway, whose client list includes Nokia, Siemens, and Accenture, ensures that British companies can employ specialist candidates direct from Finland, globally recognised as leaders in wireless development.

The partnership signals the start of pricejamieson’s aggressive plan to foster relations with like-minded companies across Europe in a bid to create an international recruitment network. These partnerships are mutually beneficial sharing information and expertise of respective markets, candidates in both countries will also reap the benefits of the constantly updated and shared database of positions across two countries.

“The opportunity to work with IT-Gateway couldn’t have happened at a better time now that the wireless industry continues to develop and gain momentum in the UK,” said Andrew Swift, Joint Managing Director of pricejamieson.

“A Finnish partner was an obvious choice for us. It’s at the forefront of the wireless revolution and is one of key recipients of venture capital funding. Many wireless companies develop in Finland before looking to internationalise so being able to take advantage of IT-Gateway’s expertise, excellent reputation and quality of service holds tremendous value for us, our clients and our candidates.”

“It’s a widely accepted practice in Finland that we spend at least two years during our career working abroad,” commented Markus Pyrhonen, CEO IT-Gateway. “The opportunity to partner with UK consultants opens many opportunities for us since at least 20 percent of our candidates are looking for work in the UK.”

He continued, “with pricejamieson’s help we are also able to assist those clients who are expanding their operations to new markets, which currently accounts for 25 percent of our business.”

pricejamieson already operates a successful transatlantic partnership with Roz Goldfarb & Associates which has been up and running for the past ten years and this latest move with IT-Gateway is to be the first in an expansion programme into Europe.

Lars Bršnnvall, was appointed last year as European Business Development and Marketing Manager. His role was to spearhead the expansion of the business across Europe with a special focus on the Nordic regions, and Bršnnvall played an integral part in bringing these two companies together. He will continue to work on the development of the network, as pricejamieson work towards creating an international recruitment network.
