Pressbox (Press Release) -
Worthing, West Sussex – July 6th, 2000 - ProtoView UK, the leading provider of component technology, today released version 1.0 of its new Java Charting component. PowerChart is a rich and robust set of integrated JavaBeans that provide 2D and 3D rendering of a wide variety of graph types to any java application.
“PowerChart is a very exciting new product for the ProtoView product line. With its server-side rendering capability as well as its client side interactivity, PowerChart is a real stand-out in its class of components”, said Chris Geiger, Managing Director of ProtoView UK. “With the addition of PowerChart to our JSuite and JFCSuite, we now have the most complete package of user interface components available”.
This version of the product supports charting types of area, bar, candle, column, line, pie, stock and surface with additional types on the way soon. Each chart type has a complete set of properties for controlling colors, fonts and legends as well as many additional display characteristics.
One of the most advanced features of the product is the ability to easily obtain data from any source, be it JDBC data, streaming data, XML or n-tier data feeds. PowerChart’s data models also conform to standard JavaBeans models for 2 dimensional data. For thin client delivery, PowerChart can remain on the server and dynamically render JPG-format charts to HTML or JSP pages.
Another powerful feature of the PowerChart product is called the Power Panel. With its integrated toolbar and legend components, users can easily make changes to data and styles using an interactive, point and click interface to make dynamic updates to charts. In addition, charts can be rotated in any direction as well as zoomed in and out for a complete 360 degree perspective on the relationships within the chart.
PowerChart is a part of the JFCSuite and JSuite products, but is also sold separately for £ 430 PowerChart includes both AWT and JFC Swing versions and supports JDK 1.02, 1.1.x and Java 2 environments.
