Pressbox (Press Release) -
Actix builds on its current wide-reaching 2G CDMA customer base
by offering new 3G solution
Las Vegas, 20 March, 2001 - Actix Inc., the premier provider of cellular network optimization solutions, today unveiled a new product that will significantly ease the first step in the 3G-rollout process for wireless carriers. Actix’s new AnalyzerÔ for cdma2000 enables 3G network operators to optimize their CDMA 1X networks prior to commercial launch, thus reducing the risk of experiencing network problems during the crucial launch period.
"The smooth, timely introduction of new services is crucial for long term success, and this is particularly true for complex technologies like 3G. While operators are pushing for early rollouts, they must also take steps to protect the quality of their existing services and to identify and resolve any issues with the new technology before these issues grow into customer problems," says Actix Inc.’s President, Des Owens. “Actix’s new Analyzer product ensures a smooth 3G rollout for wireless carriers by enabling them to complete tasks such as performance troubleshooting, problem diagnosis and analysis, network comparison for bench-marking and competitive analysis.”
The Analyzer for cdma2000 provides engineers with a complete view of network performance, down to the individual subscriber level, to reveal precisely the cause of network problems and how best to resolve those problems - thus reducing time and resources spent on troubleshooting. In the case of new network rollouts, it enables carriers to test and verify new network equipment and determine the optimal network settings for that equipment faster than ever before.
The Actix Analyzer is unique in that its automated processing capabilities enable carriers to collect data from multiple points in the network across a wide area - allowing carriers to quickly ready 200 to 300 cells for rollout instead of being limited to readying only 40 cells at a
time - and collect those measurements into one integrated platform. It is also the only system that is vendor-independent, allowing carriers to easily test all portions of their networks with one tool.
With more than 10 years of experience across all wireless technologies, Actix is already a leader in the 2G wireless world. Last month at the 3GSM World Congress, the company revealed that all major US CDMA carriers are currently using its Analyzer network optimization solution for their 2G CDMA networks, including Alltel Communications, Cricket Communications, Qwest Wireless, Sprint PCS, and Verizon Wireless.
Also at the 3GSM World Congress, the company unveiled the first drive-test capable tool to optimize GPRS networks, thus enabling GSM providers to de-risk their rollout of such services. The new CDMA optimization solution will be commercially available in April.

About Actix Analyzer
The Actix Analyzer family of products centers on network performance optimization and decision support. It can address a wide range of applications, including: performance troubleshooting; problem diagnosis and analysis; verification; network comparison for benchmarking; and competitive analysis. This extremely versatile, PC-based software solution gives engineers, technicians and operations management staff a transparent view of network performance, both of home and competitive networks. The latter enables operators to protect their subscriber base and exploit gaps in competitive services.
The Analyzer platform analyzes network performance data from all mobile technologies, including: IS-136, GSM, iDEN, GPRS, TETRA and CDMA, addressing such factors as: handover, coverage and capacity, frame error rates and dropped calls, all of which can be monitored and displayed, along with other relevant performance parameters.
Actix is a privately held company, founded in 1991, which has established an international reputation for developing market-leading optimization and analysis tools for all major digital and analog mobile cellular technologies. Actix has offices and end users in the United Kingdom, mainland Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA. The company has 35 GSM operator clients and over 1,000 engineers use Analyzer in 20 countries.
