One held, 3 booked for selling fake Degrees, Diplomas

The team of the State Special Operations Cell has arrested a person and booked three others for selling fake diploma certificates and degrees.
The accused arrested has been identified as Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Rurki Kham in Kharar. Others who have been booked in the case include Sarabjit Singh and Kamljit Singh, both from Todar Majra. The duo is still at large.
The police have registered a case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code at the State Special Operations Cell police station at Phase 1 in Mohali.
Varinderpal Singh, AIG, SSOC, said they have recovered over 40 fake degrees and diplomas of various courses from the possession of the accused.
“The fake degrees include MBBS (Biochemical systems), DGM (AM Gynaecology), BEHS/BEMS (Electro Homoeopathy), BDS, BAMS, diploma in Medical Lab Tech and Medical RAD Tech etc. These fraudsters were operating from their office, which they opened in the Phase VII market,” said AIG Varinderpal Singh.
The AIG added that the miscreants were providing fake degrees and diplomas of various courses under the Council of Paramedical, Punjab, Information Technology and Management, Punjab and the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh.
“We have recovered a number of filled and unfilled fake certificates, stamps and a computer set from the possession of Gagandeep Singh” said inspector Gurcharan Singh.
Inspector Gurcharan Singh said they duped money to the tune of lakhs from a number of persons.
“We are also investigating further about the persons who got job on the basis of fake documents,” said inspector Gurcharan Singh.
