NO MORE BREAKFAST IN BED ON MOTHERíS DAY

Added: (Thu Mar 22 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The traditional Motherís Day treat of breakfast in bed is set to be a thing of the past, according to new research.

Children all over the country are abandoning preparation of the traditional treat in favour of a cooked meal, says a new survey from The Chicago Town Pizza, the UKís best-selling frozen pizza.

Chicago Town questioned 500 children between the ages of five and fifteen to see how they intended to treat their mums on Motherís Day. Whilst household chores such as doing the washing up and even vacuuming were common responses, a staggering one in three children were planning to cook their mum dinner. Just one in ten were planning to make breakfast in bed.

The survey forms part of an ongoing research programme by The Chicago Town Pizza into how meal solutions are becoming more versatile as peopleís attitudes and lifestyles change.

Ben Johnson, European Marketing Controller for The Chicago Town Pizza, comments: ďIn the past a Motherís Day breakfast was an easy way for kids to treat their mums, but it seems from our results that as cooking has become easier for children, they are no longer restricted to making tea and toast in the morning.

People are busier than ever and are increasingly look for products which are versatile enough to fit in with todayís hectic lifestyles. The creation of such products has certainly made cooking easier for children Ė to the extent that mums all over the country will be able to put their feet up and be waited on this Sunday!Ē

Frozen pizza is the most convenient food in the modern diet and more than £300m worth of pizzas were sold in the UK last year, 18% of which were The Chicago Town Pizza.

Itís the versatility of the Chicago Town range that makes it the UKís number one frozen pizza. Its distinctive individual size means that itís perfect for any meal occasion from a snack on its own to a main meal with accompaniments. For extra flexibility, it can be cooked in the oven or microwave and its deep dish base ensures that the generous topping always stays on the pizza, delivering great quality every time.
