Pressbox (Press Release) - The Internet of Things Security Institute (IoTSI) announced today that it has
released an IoTSI Security Framework for Smart Cities & Critical Infrastructure - Blockchain Apps.
Matthew Hargreaves, IoTSI Executive Director - Blockchain & Crypto says the objective of the IoTSI Blockchain Apps Framework is to provide a framework that identifies key security considerations and challenges when implementing Blockchain technologies within Smart Cities and Critical Infrastructure eco-systems.
"The goal of the IoT Security Institute was to establish a comprehensive set of Blockchain security guidelines to assist each of the Blockchain supply chain participants specify, procure, install, integrate, operate and maintain Blockchain technologies securely within Smart Cities and Critical Infrastructure. says Hargreaves."

"Urban and Regional habitats are working spaces, information portals and community information exchanges that require appropriate security controls to meet their future potential. The IoT Security Institute is focused on ensuring that IoTSI Blockchain security recommendations are globally applicable and simple to adopt - fitting within existing processes wherever possible. In a Smart Tech age this includes maintaining data confidentiality, privacy and public safety levels that meet community and corporate expectations. Within a Blockchain apps context, this can only be achieved by a globally available Enterprise Security Framework for Blockchain Apps.added Hargreaves"

The release of the IoTSI Blockchain Apps Framework provides business, government and industry a publicly available framework capable of addressing emerging and existing Blockchain security challenges within the built and critical infrastructure environment. Released under a Common Criteria licensing agreement the IoTSI Blockchain framework can be freely downloaded from the IoT Security Institute website. iotsecurityinstitute.com

" Regarding distribution, the IoTSI does not want to restrict the framework's adoption by imposing licensing costs or restricted access pending some kind of commercial consideration. The framework is there to be implemented and shared. Often the benefits of such initiatives get lost in the commercial requirements imposed. We simply and easily want to get the framework to cyber professionals where it is needed". says Alan Mihalic, President IoTSI
"Of course, there'll be organizations that will provide professional services to assist with the Framework's deployment. This is expected. Resource and competency considerations are always a determining factor to any cyber security process improvement activity.
However, the Framework is not a commercial offering. That in itself goes a long way to keeping costs in check. added Mihalic."
