Jim Lynch Joins as Vice President of Information Technology; Leon Rishniw Promoted to Vice President of Engineering
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 3 -- Liquid Audio, Inc. (Nasdaq: LQID - news), a leading provider of Internet software and services for the digital delivery of music over the Internet, today announced the addition of two new vice presidents to its executive staff. Jim Lynch, formerly of Wells Fargo Bank, joins Liquid Audio in the newly created post of vice president of Information Technology. Jim Lynch, 36, joins the company as vice president of Liquid Audio's Information Technology Group, managing the company's global digital music distribution infrastructure. His responsibilities include deploying and maintaining Liquid Audio's scalable network, data processing, and content management systems. Lynch was previously at Wells Fargo where he led the deployment and management of the bank's e-commerce infrastructure. In this role, he architected, designed and maintained Wells Fargo's Internet Banking site. Lynch also spearheaded an application performance analysis that led to significant improvements of the Wells Fargo.com corporate Web site. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Lynch consulted on Web development projects with Ascend Communications and several New York Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Lynch holds a BA in English from Columbia University and has had a long career in the music business as a journalist and artist manager.
Liquid Audio also announced the promotion of Leon Rishniw, 33, to vice president of Engineering, responsible for the development of the company's open software platform for digital music delivery. Rishniw has been an integral member of the Liquid Audio development organization throughout the development of five generations of the multi-platform Liquid(TM) System product line, which includes Liquid(TM) Server software, Liquid(TM) Player software and Liquifier Pro(TM) encoding tools. Rishniw joined Liquid Audio in August 1996 as an original member of the Liquid Audio software engineering team, then in January of 1997 became a development manager, and was promoted to director of Engineering in November of 1998. Prior to Liquid Audio, Rishniw served as a senior software engineer for Studer Editech, a professional audio recording equipment company. He also served as a software engineer for Signal Stream Technology, a medical imaging technology provider. Rishniw holds a BS in engineering from Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Lynch and Rishniw join the Liquid Audio executive team including: Gerald Kearby, president and chief executive officer; Robert Flynn, senior vice president of Business Development; Philip Wiser, senior vice president of Engineering and chief technical officer; Gary Iwatani, senior vice president and chief financial officer; Scott Steinberg, senior vice president of Marketing; Richard Wingate, senior vice president of Content Development and Label Relations; Kevin Malone, vice president of Sales; Mathieu 'Charly' Prevost, vice president of Promotions; Andrea Cook Fleming, vice president of Corporate Marketing; and Heather Furmidge, vice president of Internet Business. Lynch and Rishniw will report directly to Wiser.
