LAWSON ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF lawson.insight 8 SERIES

Added: (Fri Nov 24 2000)

Pressbox (Press Release) - LONDON, 20 November, 2000 - Lawson Software today announced the release of lawson.insight™ 8 Series, the newest version of its best-in-class e-business management system.

The lawson.insight 8 Series delivers a new standard for e-business with the creation of B2(x), which is enabled through the use of fully open extensible mark-up language (XML). A core component of Lawson's software environment, the use of XML promises to change the way Lawson customers do business. Traditionally,
e-business has focused on the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) concepts. Lawson has eclipsed this model by using 100 per cent XML technologies as the foundation of lawson.insight 8 Series, allowing customers to extend their solutions to all stakeholders and constituents.

"What we can offer through XML is the ability to fully automate business processes from start to finish," said Tony Marzulli, vice president of Product and Industry Marketing, Lawson Software. "We now offer a fully-open, Web-addressable solution that enables customers to include tenants, suppliers, partners, consumers, customers, sales people, consultants, decision-makers and anyone else with an impact on their business. B2B is too limiting - you can't realise the benefits of being a 360-degree e-business unless the solutions you are using can extend to everyone - and the 'x' in B2(x) is everyone. This consolidation of functionality will mean tremendous competitive advantages for our customers, our ASP partners and their customers."
Instead of being limited to status quo B2B and B2C transactions, Lawson 8 Series users now have the ability to extend their business solutions to anyone, anywhere, through any device - with no client, no middleware and no plug-ins.
"With the release of lawson.insight 8 Series, Lawson is once again demonstrating its leadership in using new technologies to help customers realise business benefits," said Dr. Katherine Jones, managing director, Enterprise Applications, Aberdeen Group. "As markets continue to adopt the 'software as a service' model and embrace e-business processes, Lawson's open architecture, comprehensive toolsets and partnering strategy competitively position the company to meet the go-to-market needs of application service providers and business process outsourcers. This new release also demonstrates that Lawson is clearly committed to continuing its vertical market strategy, adding new functionality and solutions that address the specific needs of its targeted industries."
Every aspect of lawson.insight has been re-engineered to provide maximum benefit to customers. All products are fully Web-addressable and offer Lawson's Self-Evident Applications® (SEA) technologies for zero training and ease-of-use. New and updated lawson.insight 8 Series components include:

"At Memorial, we see Lawson's e-Scorecard as the key solution for enterprise-wide reporting throughout our system," said Dennis Miller, chief information officer, Memorial Healthcare Systems. "It's very important for us to manage and align our organisational resources with our strategic goals, and e-Scorecard lets us achieve that in a cost-effective manner. We are especially impressed with Lawson's collaborative approach to a balanced scorecard solution. e-Scorecard allows simultaneous viewing of multiple documents, and attaching of pertinent information to data that puts it into perspective for other decision-makers. We feel that this will give us more accurate, reliable enterprise information with less duplication of effort."
The complete lawson.insight 8 Series will become generally available on
10 January 2001. Most components are currently in limited availability.
