China Emergency Light Manufacturers - Led Emergency Lighting Installation: Considerations

Added: (Wed Mar 20 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) -
China Emergency Light Manufacturers have highlighted some of the points that electricians need to consider before installing dimmable LED emergency lighting.

With the miniaturization of electronic products, LED lights are becoming more and more like incandescent and halogen lamps that they are designed to replace. But can they replicate the dimming performance of old lighting technology? In many cases, they can, but the lack of information can lead to disappointing results and unnecessary experiments on the spot.

By following a few simple rules, you can do it right the first time:

  1. Check if the LED light is "dimmable"

This is a common misconception that any LED light can be dimmed with an LED dimmer. In fact, the design of the driver circuit must take into account dimming, so it is essential to choose a lamp that the manufacturer calls "dimmable". However, the lack of industry standards for dimmable LED drivers has led lamp manufacturers to adopt many different methods - some methods are clearly more successful than others.

  2. Choose an approved brand

The dimming performance of "dimmable" LED lamps varies widely, and the achievable brightness range and output stability are the most disappointing features. Some manufacturers are happy to mark their lights as "dimmable" even though they only provide the slightest change in brightness.

We recommend customers to choose fixtures from proven lighting for reliable dimming, better product warranty, longer lamp life and more customer support.

  3. Choose brighter fixtures to make the most of the dimmer

In order to truly replicate the dimming performance of incandescent lighting, it is important to choose LED lighting with high lumen output. If the dimmer's output is already dark enough, it makes little sense to connect the dimmer to the LED.

  4. Check the manufacturer's recommendations

Most well-known lighting brands publish dimmer compatibility data on their websites. This data is a useful reference point to help select a dimmer. If in doubt, please contact the company to ask their advice.

  5. Avoid using standard dimmers

Some brands of LED lighting may claim to be compatible with standard dimmers, but even with some dimming possible, the dimming range can be disappointing. It is worth remembering that in most LED applications, the standard dimmer is under-loaded, which exacerbates the flicker and stroboscopic effects, which greatly shortens the life of the bulb and dimmer.

  6. Choose a dimmer designed for LED lighting

For best performance, choose a dimmer.

The onboard "drive" function can also be used to handle lamps that fail to illuminate when the dimmer set at low brightness levels is turned "on". Once the settings are optimized for a given load, the installer can lock them to prevent accidental reprogramming during normal use.

  7. Please choose the dimmer before purchasing LED lighting.

Lighting fixtures are designed to ensure they meet the minimum and maximum load requirements of the available dimmers. Assigning a load to multiple dimmers provides a solution while providing greater control by allowing the ambient light levels to be partitioned within the multi-function space.

High-power V-Pro dimmers can now be used to handle power up to 300W.

  8. All functions of the demodulation device

LED dimmers typically have features designed to enhance the performance of dimmable LED illumination, but accessing these functions may require programming.
