A London maintenance firm boss has drawn on a lifetime’s desire for writing to reach the top of the charts with his first graphic novel.
Jaco du Toit provides a handyman service for landlords across the capital and for the past decade he has also been plotting a side career as a novelist in his spare time.
His latest work, Falco – Headshot, has finally earned him the top spot after soaring to number one in Amazon’s graphic novel charts.
The 41-year-old author turned his hand to not only creating and developing his own characters, but also collaborating with an artist to bring his story to life, after being disappointed by others in the genre.
He explained: “I was reading another graphic novel, which I didn’t think was too good.
“I thought that I could do better.
“I just love reading and it’s been a dream of mine to write for a job since I was still in school.”
Falco – Headshot is an explosive adventure novel with non-stop twists and turns on the age-old good-versus-evil storyline.
Not only has Jaco proven himself as an accomplished storyteller with his stunning new thriller, but the quality of the artwork is also winning him a new wave of fans.
The gripping page-turner is as fast as it is vast.
Jaco added: “Falco – Headshot features our hero, Falco, a 45-year old private detective who is skilled in various disciplines.
“And we then have our bad guy, The Badger.
“They call him ‘the meanest son of a bitch there ever was’.
“Falco - Headshot takes place in the USA and more specifically, New York.
“I needed a big country to work with.
“I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but in the book I kind of point it out as to why I used the USA.”
Jaco, who is married to Claudia and has two sons, originates from South Africa.
Following the success of Falco – Headshot, Jaco is planning to publish a further four graphic novels in the series.
