World Breastfeeding Week

New York, NY June 6, 2001:

World Breastfeeding Week is August 1-7, 2001. This year’s theme, “Breastfeeding in the Information Age”, will focus on different ways women and their families receive information regarding breastfeeding.

Websites like www.promom.org will highlight the week with special articles and features: “Nursing and Working”, “101 Reasons to Breastfeed”, and “Becoming a 3-Minute Nursing Activist”. The website, offered by ProMoM, a non-profit that promotes breastfeeding, also includes discussion forums where mothers can get support from professionals and other nursing mothers.

“It’s a great place to find help with any breastfeeding problem I have. Their articles are wonderful and I can also find links to other important breastfeeding sites,” says Tiffany David, mother to a nursing toddler.

ProMoM (Promotion of Mother’s Milk, Inc.) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and acceptance of breastfeeding.
