Pressbox (Press Release) - Renowned psychologist Joe Griffin is going back to the very start with his eye-opening new book, A Universe that Dreams, to provide a compelling arguments for making sense of it all.
The 74-year-old has already shaken up approaches to understanding depression, addiction and dreaming with several authoritative publications.
His in-demand lectures have also been a source of inspiration and education for thousands of health professionals over the past two decades.
Now Joe, who lives between his native Ireland and the UK, has pulled all of his psychological and philosophical knowledge together, along with his understanding of mysticism and physics to produce a compelling insight into the origins of the universe.
A Universe that Dreams also explores the role human consciousness has in the bigger picture.
Joe explained: “There are questions to which most of us want answers - does consciousness go out like a light when we die?
“Does our life have meaning and purpose? Is there such a thing as destiny? How do we save our planet? Where does the world come from anyway? Who am I?
“Drawing on insights obtained from psychology, philosophy, mystical literature, physics and my own mystical experiences, I take readers on an intriguing journey to both the heart of consciousness and the origins of the universe.
“A Universe that Dreams offers breath-taking insights to give readers a revolutionary new understanding of how the universe works and the role of human consciousness.”
Since the recent publication of A Universe that Dreams, critics have described Joe’s book as ‘incredible’, ‘brave, illuminating… and a bit of a shock’, and a work of ‘staggering genius’.
Reviewer Liley Rose stated: “If you are looking for the answers to life’s most important questions that make sense, then this is the book for you.”
While Joe regularly appears on television and radio to discuss his work, and is the author and co-author of many highly-regarded books and journals, he is perhaps best known for developing the Human Givens school of psychology.
Along with co-founder Ivan Tyrrell, their treatment has been credited with helping to improve over one million people’s mental health.
Following on from all of his achievements and gathered knowledge, Joe realised that he was in a position not to help just individuals, but the whole planet.
He explained: “The idea for A Universe that Dreams came in what I call a waking dream in which I was told that my mystical experiences could answer fundamental questions that could save the planet.
“It took a further eight years of research to produce the book.”
Joe is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and holds graduate and post-graduate degrees from the London School of Economics.
