NEW YORK, NY, AUGUST 2001 – Sourire has hit the jackpot! The company, renowned for its alternative greeting cards and New York mice postcards, got lucky this year and licensed seven pieces of artwork from each of three very talented artists; Linda K. Blondheim, Kevin C. Miller, and Beàta Waruszynski, all of whom are scheduled to debut this winter.
Blondheim began painting at age eight and is now a full-time, plein air landscape painter and cartoonist. Her works are recognized by the use of rich lush colors and energetic brushstrokes. As a participant in numerous art festivals, museum exhibitions, and gallery shows, Blondheim is confident that Anecdopes, her humorous series of illustrated snapshots, will win popularity among gift givers.
Miller is a self-taught digital artist. His captivating portraits of angels, which have been highly praised at art fairs, bring about more beauty and light. Undoubtedly, The Messenger Collection will ace within the gift market as healing art and a medium for spirituality and positive energy.
Waruszynski, a native of Montréal, now resides in Toronto where she freelances as an artist and photographer. Much of her artwork exhibits a diverse range of media that produces 3-D imagery. Solace is a series of her heartwarming paintings that depict tranquility and new beginnings.
The works from Blondheim, Miller, and Waruszynski were chosen out of a pool of over three hundred designs and card ideas submitted. Each artist contributes a unique style which accents Sourire's existing gift line. Anecdopes, The Messenger Collection, and Solace will give consumers an extra boost of hope, peace and comfort throughout the winter months. In addition to greeting cards and postcards, the artists' work will be featured on popular merchandise including scrapbook and stationery sets. Towards Autumn 2002, retailers can expect to offer consumers school and office supplies.
Sourire's comprehensive straight from a smile™ line of products consist of 80% printed greeting cards and postcards for holiday and occasion, and 15% which are handcrafted items. The balance of the line consists of various gift items such as stationery and t-shirts. Products are distributed through gift stores, mail order, and online.
