Sussex writer’s debut novel published in his 80s

Added: (Wed May 29 2024)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Latecomer Noel Primrose became one of the must-read thriller writers of 2022 with the publication of his debut novel.
Despite being in his 80s, the retired Sussex NHS worker excited readers with his fast-paced and unpredictable political thriller.
A Fall to the Top racked a lengthy string of five-star reviews, with critics describing the explosive debut as ‘first-class’, ‘an amazing storyline’ and ‘an absorbing story’.
Two years on, the great-grandfather from East Sussex, has returned with the gripping and highly anticipated sequel, Treachery.
Noel, whose favourite authors include Robert Louise Stevenson and Ian Fleming, said: “Both Treachery and A Fall to the Top are about abuse of power.
“Three former SAS officers want to make Britain great again – and the entire world a better place – but they have conflicting values.
“In Treachery, one becomes prime minister after being aided by a mysterious genius scientist by the name of Jupiter.
“All three friends obtain unlimited power in their own ways, but Treachery shows they all have different ways in which they want to use it.”
A Fall to the Top protagonist Jack Somerton makes a welcome return to the page in Noel’s newly-published thriller.
Attempting to forge a new path and get himself re-elected, he’ll do whatever it takes to reach the top.
With help from Jupiter, Somerton overcomes a few formidable hurdles as his ambitions start to overtake him.
As with his debut, Noel demonstrates a natural ability for story-telling with perfect pacing, engaging plot lines and colourful characters throughout Treachery.
Having previously drafted several novels in other genres, it was political thrillers that have come naturally to him.
He explained: “I’ve written three other books - one dealing with the perfect crime scenario, another a James Bond type adventure, and the final one looks at what would happen if Jesus came back.
“I worry about publishing the last one in case I would upset someone.
“I feel safest with political thrillers.
“I’m interested in politics, and I’m always shouting at the MPs when they are making excuses during interviews.
“I was regularly telling myself I could come up with better excuses.”
Away from writing, Noel still enjoys running and watching his favourite football teams, Rangers, Liverpool and Brighton.
