Pressbox (Press Release) -
West Sussex heating engineer Graham Sitton is turning up the temperature with a thrilling new career as an author.
And he can thank a chance finding on the beach for his remarkable latest thriller.
The 74-year-old writer has just released the complex five-star-rated novel, Two Hearts: Volume 1, to critical acclaim.
His unique and gripping novel has been described as a ‘great story’ and ‘completely different’ by captivated reviewers.
But Graham is quick to admit his stunning story – told from two different perspectives – isn’t entirely a work of fiction.
Much of the narrative is based on old manuscripts he stumbled across while walking on an island beach a few years ago.
He explained: “Two Hearts is the story of a boy who is slightly brain damaged when young by severe exposure to cold, and also his older sister who never got on with him and became paranoid about reuniting with her mother whilst keeping her brother safe.
“The book is based on manuscripts I discovered inside a bottle.
“Even now, when reading them, I continue to feel sorry for Sam.
“He was badly bullied, used and put on, and yet I’m proud of his final achievements.”
Two Hearts: Volume 1 is the first instalment of a planned trilogy featuring Sam.
Graham wonderfully brings to life his early years with vivid imagery and sparkling characterisation.
But what lifts Two Hearts: Volume 1 above similar type novels is the dual and differing perspectives of events.
Grahame, who only started writing four years ago, added: “It is two people’s recollection of their lives and how others were affected.
“In this the first of three volumes, there are the two similar accounts of the adventure – each from the teller’s perspective.
“So, we have stories of murder, deceit, incest, greed, coercion, and love.
“In spite of everything, and due to coincidences, people’s lives alter - some for better, some for worse.”
As with all master storytellers, volume one of the trilogy will leave readers desperate to find out what happens next to the characters.
But they won’t have to wait long as the second volume has already gone to print.
