The inspirational diary entries of a young father taken by cancer has just topped the book charts almost four years after his death.
Suffolk teacher Mike Ginn was diagnosed with Leukaemia in the summer of 2016 – only 10 weeks after the birth of his daughter, Hope.
During the following 13 months he charted his personal battle with the cruel illness as well as the reliance on his faith in a daily blog.
More than 10,000 people logged on to read Mike’s updates – and now, his wife, Fiona, has turned the deeply moving posts into Diary of a 20 Something Cancer Fighter.
The book has already topped Amazon’s Christianity and Memoirs charts, and it has attracted countless five-star reviews from captivated readers.
Fiona said: “Mike wanted to write how he was feeling and to process his thoughts and the blog was a perfect opportunity to do this.
“He published the blog online and used it as a way of informing friends and family with an update on his condition.
“But it was also his space to express his raw emotions and feelings as he talked about how the treatment impacted us on a day-to-day basis and everyday life.
“Mike opened up about his Christian faith and how this was his steadfast hope.”
Although Mike lost his fight with cancer on August 23, 2017, his online blog has continued to inspire many who find themselves in a similar position.
And Fiona, who works as a fundraiser for the St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich, decided to take her late husband’s message to an even wider audience with the publication of Diary of a 20 Something Cancer Fighter.
She added: “People still talk about the blog now, even three-and-a-half-years after Mike’s death as they found it inspirational.
“His courage and bravery shone through as he inspired many.
“The message to take from Diary of a 20 Something Cancer Fighter is that in adversity there is hope in the future.
“By putting absolute faith in God throughout complete uncertainty, there is hope.”
Since the release of Diary of a 20 Something Cancer Fighter earlier this year it has been met with five-star reviews from inspired readers.
Mike’s words have been described by the critics as ‘an incredible story’, ‘full of amazing hope, love, peace an such strong faith’, and ‘it will make you laugh, it will make you cry’.
