Pressbox (Press Release) -
A former Westminster candidate for the Green Party has put his polling day recognition behind him to produce yet another stunning work of science fiction.
He hopes his time-travelling intergalactic adventures will help promote the vital climate-emergency messages that have been, and continue to be, only paid lip-service by those in Government.
The Staffordshire environmental activist is enjoying success with his writing career, having just released the gripping sequel to his debut, The Auditors: The Earth is Temporarily Closed, Sorry.
His original five-star-rated thriller was described by critics as ‘intriguing’, ‘richly imaginative’ and ‘engaging’.
Carl’s follow-up, The Auditors: The Festival of Light and Infinite Eight, takes the struggle for human existence to another level, allows the former science teacher to provide further stern warnings about the changes our children will have to live with in a possible future.
Carl, who writes under the name CR Johnson, said: “The Auditors: The Festival of Light and Infinite Eight follows protagonist Mark Curry once more as he goes in search of his brother Hap Pollo, (Apollo),
“The pair find themselves uncovering the secrets that lie behind the whole of human history and the eventual destruction of mankind.”
The Auditors: The Festival of Light and Infinite Eight is an intelligent, extremely well-written, adventure that transcends centuries, planets and beliefs.
While the adventures of Mark Curry provide plenty food for thought over environmental and societal issues, the brilliant sequel is also an edge-of-the-seat, page-turning adventure.
Originally from Yorkshire, Carl was heavily influenced by writers such as PG Wodehouse and JRR Tolkien during his childhood.
His varied career has taken him from the Army to teaching and an associate member of the National Counselling Society.
When not working, Carl spends his mornings writing science fiction and trying not to worry about the world.
He added: “I sit down each morning at 6am and write whatever appears in my head - no planning, no research, just whatever inspiration comes from an overheard remark or casual observation, as witnessed when Hermes pushed trolleys in a supermarket carpark.
“Through my support of political movements such as the Green Party and Extinction Rebellion I do work to change things.
“The modern world is concerning; the reliance on fast food, still burning petrol and diesel to move ourselves around, burning coal for power, living as we are in this unprecedented period of human history. And yet we have all the technology we will ever need to live cleanly, sustainably. Unfortunately, we lack the political will. We all seem to be so irresponsibly blasé about our actions, this will only serve to burden our children with a changed world which they will not thank us for. History will be our judge.”
Carl recommends books such as The Abramelin, Russel Brand’s Freedom from our Addictions, and The Establishment and How They Get Away With It by Owen Jones as accompanying reading for his The Auditors series. Book Three in the series; The Auditors, The Great Overview. And Beyond, is out at the end of April.
