Pressbox (Press Release) - Working with trafficked children from Africa has inspired the debut novel from a former director of education.
Colin Shaw Hilton’s explosive new thriller, Treasonable Intent, is also an eye-opener into the world of cyber security.
The 64-year-old grandfather from the North-West of England has held several senior positions during a distinguished career, including a director of children’s services, a panel member of Appeals for Ministry of Justice, and the chair of a Children’s Trust.
But it was his time spent working with youngsters who had been taken into care after being smuggled into the UK from Somalia which helped shape his first foray into writing fiction.
Colin’s main character in the five-star Treasonable Intent, is Somalian refugee turned military veteran, Major Fawzia Wilkins.
The former teacher explained: “The main character evolved from working with some young people who had been taken into care, having fled from conflict in Africa and been trafficked into the UK.
“The story itself came from when I saw a science documentary on the storage of digital data in DNA at the same time as I was reading articles about cyber warfare.
“To write Treasonable Intent I had to do some research on the Somali community in Britain and copious research on cyber warfare.”
Treasonable Intent is an edge-of-the-seat thriller packed with twists and turns from the off.
Colin’s highly authoritative narrative paints a worrying picture of the cyber threat facing the country’s security services.
Since the publication of Treasonable Intent it was has received five-star reader reviews and also reached the top ten in Amazon’s thriller charts.
Colin added: “When a terrorist cell arrives in the UK, the authorities are already waiting for them.
“Their target is known to be the latest cyber warfare system and their location is swiftly surrounded by elite forces.
“Yet in the space of a few hours, the situation is out of control; the intelligence services are compromised and an even greater threat appears from within.
“In the midst of it all, one woman - Major Fawzia Wilkins - finds herself unwillingly placed at the heart of events and challenged by both friend and foe.”
Treasonable Intent has been described as ‘brilliant’, ‘well written’ and ‘outstanding’ by its growing number of captivated readers.
Treasonable Intent is the first book in a planned Major Fawizia Wilkins series.
