Houston,TX., February 23, 2024-- Marking a triumphant return, award-winning artist Lex Lumiere is set to showcase her extraordinary talent at the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. This Texas-born artist carries a legacy that is nothing short of remarkable. As the granddaughter of UN Award Recipient Frank and Beatrice 'Bea' Cricchio, pioneers in the field of photography for Kodak and Fuji who upheld the American Dream even in the face of adversity, Lumiere has always been destined to shine bright.
In the early years of her career, Lumiere relocated to New York City after her grandparents photography studio was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, where she honed her skills in the professional arts scene. Her expertise in luxury apparel led her to to work as a Senior Recruiter for H&M, PPR the parent company of Gucci and as a Regional Recruiting Manager for Juicy Couture, hiring for over 200 stores from NYC to Miami. Meanwhile, she cultivated her passion for photography and networking, becoming one of two female commercial photographers for NYFW under IMG's ownership. Her art also found a home at the annual Visual Aids Benefit non-profit for Sikkema Jenkins & Co. Lumiere's commitment to beautifying the community was apparent as she participated in Habitat for Humanity's Brush with Kindness' project, even painting a children's mural at the P.S.329 Surfside School.
However, Lumiere's journey was far from smooth. Amidst personal turmoil and ending her engagement to musician Williams, she found herself seeking help from the Brooklyn: Domestic Violence Center for an emergency escape plan. Despite these trials and having to leave everything behind, Lumiere's artistic journey persevered with her final exhibit at the Chelsea Hotel, benefiting the Japan Society Tsunami Relief Fund for legendary Herbert Fox of Studio 54 and Black Book Inc.
Lumiere returned to Texas to support her grandmother through chemotherapy and planned to open another photography studio. Tragically, these plans fell through when her business partner, Scott Childress, was murdered. Yet, Lumiere refused to let these challenges define her. She returned to NYFW with her camera, capturing the essence of fashion for brands like Moroccan oil, Carolina Herrera, Jeremy Scott and Alexander McQueen’s protege Soojin Lee, among others, using creativity as an outlet to heal.
In 2015, Lumiere's life took another hit when she was involved in a head on car collision with a drug impaired driver that affected her vision that prescribed her 'rose colored glasses.' Despite legal complications, she continues her advocacy for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, still awaiting justice and financial restoration for her case after Fort Bend County Court has held her settlement funds since May 12,2022 due to Jim Adler and Associates failing to honor their contract that states they claim no fees when they quit a case, which their firm did in November of 2018. Yet justice has failed to uphold it's end.
Unstoppable in the face of adversity, Lex Lumiere survived Hurricane Harvey in 2017, even participating in search and rescue efforts while losing her home in 40 feet of water. Her experiences became a part of the Hurricane Harvey-Houston Flood Museum. Due to her dedication to charity, art and her positive community impact, Lex was nominated by the Houston Texans NFL team in 2020 for their Community Champion Award. Then for the Texas State Artist award for 2023-24 by The Texas State Legislature and TCA, along side the likes of fellow Texan and talented musician, Kelly Clarkson.
Today, Lex Lumiere stands strong as a Citizen Artist & Cultural Partner with the USDAC and Artist for the Art In Embassies registry with the US Dept of State, having exhibited at the Louvre in Paris, and part of the corporate Pfizer collection as well as the Stonewall National Museum. As she prepares to return to NYC to perform at Carnegie Hall on February 25,2024 with Houston's First Choir, at 7PM with Kari Jobe. Lumiere carries with her an extraordinary journey of resilience, passion, and the enduring power of art. Her story is a testament to the human spirit's ability to rise above adversity, embodying the essence of the American Dream that her grandparents' faith strived for. New York City awaits the return of this remarkable artist, ready to embrace her talent and the powerful song resilience sings.
