Pressbox (Press Release) - A woman’s journey to hell and back at the hands of an abusive ex-partner has just been published to critical acclaim.

Gaynor Borland’s deeply personal account of her relationship has already attracted a string of five-star reviews from captivated readers.

The Man who Murdered My Soul has been described by critics as ‘heart breaking’, ‘a must read’, and ‘hugely insightful’.

Reviewer Alana Fairweather also stated: “The author had me with her from the first page.”

The Man who Murdered My Soul provides a gripping insight into how a controlling relationship can escalate into deep trauma and depression for the victim.

Gaynor, who lives in the south west of England, said: “The Man who Murdered My Soul is my chronicle/journal of my trauma bond with a narcissist and the impact loving him had on me.

“It’s part story, part theory, part journal and is filled with loads of crazy stuff.

“I reference Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy and include my own fairy tales, musical references and conversations with both Freud and the Universe.

“It’s brutally honest, sad, insightful and, I’ve been told by readers, also laugh out loud funny.”

Due to fear of reprisals from her ex, Gaynor is keeping her current location and occupation under wraps.

But in her moving memoir, she admits that falling in love was to leave her at ‘rock bottom’ and suffering from depression.

As well as helping others by telling her story, writing The Man who Murdered My Soul has also acted as therapy for the 48-year-old.

Although being an avid reader – regularly going through a book a week – Gaynor relied on the encouragement of others during the writing and publication process.

She added: “Several people read it before publication - some of them strangers - and they all said the same thing, that it was beautifully written, well researched, both sad and funny.

“They all said they felt I was talking directly to them and I took them on every part of my journey.

“They also said they felt it all with me and were rooting for me and kept wanting more – they couldn’t get enough.

“They identified parts of themselves in the book and loved the fact I laid it all bare and was honest.”

As well as writing The Man who Murdered My Soul, Gaynor designed the book’s striking front cover to symbolise her survival.
