The book offers a guide through the hectic Christmas season, encouraging readers to wonder—to imagine big possibilities and ask important questions—as they “wander” outside their typical comfort zones into a new experience of the radical, hope-filled message of Christmas.
According to Epperly, the same sense of wonder and adventure that is found in the fantasy books of Madeleine L’Engle is also contained within the Christmas story. “In today’s world of Christian reactionary movements and nation-first ideologies,” he says, “we need to re-imagine the meaning of Christmas. We need a Christmas that is both Christ-centered and planetary conscious.”
