A lifetime’s fascination with graveyards and death has been turned into a new top-ten biography by London academic Jeane Trend-Hill.
But the historian and photographer hopes One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave will also act as inspiration for readers who need some reassurances.
Jeane explained: “One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave tells of my path from a happy childhood growing up in London and having some spooky experiences, to how domestic abuse and living with a chronic illness turned my life upside down.
“I found that I’d had so many adventures that I was trying to memorise, that I needed to write them down before I forgot the details – and that’s how the book began.
“I hope One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave shows that there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel and life after illness and abuse.”
Jeane, who is affectionately known as Rent-a-Mourner due to her attendance at funerals without grieving families, has a PHD in Mortuary Science.
And she is also a highly-regarded cemetery historian, as well as renowned award-winning photographer of headstones.
One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave follows her path from a blissful childhood in London through to a diagnosis of a chronic illness and becoming a victim of domestic abuse.
And throughout all of her trials and tribulations is the solace and refuge offered by graveyards dotted around the capital.
Jeane, whose favourite authors include Frances Brody and Agatha Christie, added: “I hope my stories are funny and sometimes a bit spooky.
“One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave tells my story of how I became an award-winning photographer, got involved with monument restoration and preservation, and was even asked to act in films and videos after been spotted by a film director in a cemetery.
“It’s a thought-provoking little book – I may have one foot in the grave but you can guarantee I will be wearing a pair of my beloved designer shoes.”
Jeane has become a media regular over the past decade or so with her in-demand writing about death and burials, as well as her ambassador work to raise awareness of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and domestic abuse.
Since the recent publication of One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave, it has reached number seven in Amazon’s biography charts.
Jeane’s memoirs have also attracted entirely five-star reviews from captivated readers.
Critics have described One Designer Clad Foot in the Grave as ‘funny’, ‘uplifting’ and ‘a great read’.
