Lincolnshire writer banks on success with new book

Added: (Thu Feb 21 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A retired banker from Lincolnshire is thanking pop star Madonna for his new lease of life as a writer of occult fantasy fiction.
Gary Warner has just released the fifth gripping book in the enchanting Witches of Marston Dornie series of novels.
And like the previous four books, Daughters of the Sunrise has been met with critical acclaim and five-star reviews.
But the 59-year-old admits it was a review for one of Madonna’s tours that convinced him to pursue a later-in-life career with the pen.
Gary said: “Although I enjoyed creative writing at school, I didn’t begin to write seriously for a while after I’d left.”
“I was eventually encouraged by having a short story published in a magazine, but my proudest achievement was undoubtedly my review of Madonna’s Girlie Show at Wembley Stadium, which was published in her official, Los Angeles based, magazine.”
“It was sometime after this, that I had the idea for my first book, A Far Cry from Summer, a modern day occult thriller.”
“After several abortive attempts and many rewrites, I finally managed to do the story justice when I published it in 2013.”
His initial contemporary take on witchcraft was so well received, Gary has continued to release further adventures each year.
Daughters of the Sunrise is yet another spell-binding thriller set in the present day but reflecting the centuries old conflict between the Sisterhood and the witch hunters.
Many of the characters from previous instalments of the Witches of Marston Dornie series return in Gary’s latest novel.
He explained: “There are several constant characters in the series, including Claire Darblay, a high-ranking Elder within the Sisterhood and her partner and closest friend, Rosalind.”
“Sisters Lorelei and Lani Sasdy are the Witches of Marston Dornie - they are dependable, wise Elders, to whom Claire and others often turn when they are in trouble or need help and advice.”
“In the third book, The Light from Winter Dark, I introduced January Grant, who has become a major character in the series.”
“I’ve grown to love January and I hope my readers will too.”
Readers have been queuing up to praise Gary and his characters.
Daughters of the Sunrise has been described as ‘heart-stoppingly exciting’, ‘excellent’, ‘dramatic’ and ‘captivating’.
