Leicester author wrote hit book whilst battling cancer

Cancer survivor Jeffrey Tarry put his treatment time to good use – by finishing his highly-anticipated second novel.
The 70-year-old from Leicester completed the final drafts of Last Dance of the Mooncurser between sessions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
His gripping new thriller has also reached the top ten of Amazon’s historical fiction chart.
Jeffrey made an instant impact back in 2014 with his debut novel, Stanley Kandlecake.
The psychological thriller was described by reviewers as being the ‘best book I have ever read’, ‘enthralling and fascinating’, and ‘contagious’.
Despite his recent ill-health he has finally returned with a thrilling story set in the days of highwaymen and deep superstition.
Jeffrey, who admits to being inspired by the screenwriters of old films, said: “The final drafts of Last Dance of the Mooncurser were written in hospital.
“I had been diagnosed with prostrate cancer, so I wrote between the CT scans and the multiple blasts of radiotherapy.
“I am proud of writing both of my novels, Stanley Kandlecake and Last Dance of the Mooncurser.
“The feedback from both has been wonderful - nothing negative.”
Last Dance of the Mooncurser is a thrilling adventure story following the cat-and-mouse hunt for infamous 18th century highwayman Jack Swift.
Jeffrey’s imaginative use of historical fact and gripping fiction makes Last Dance of the Mooncurser a convincing and thoroughly enjoyable.
As with Stanley Kandlecake, Jeffrey’s second novel is both character-led and beautifully paced.
