Pressbox (Press Release) - Financial services can be frightening if exciting new thriller writer, Leon Gray, is anything to go by.
The former building society worker has returned with his third gripping instalment of the highly coveted Wych Elm series.
Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm is another fantastic piece of plot building and characterisation, which will keep his growing readership happy.
And there’s the added bonus for his former colleagues at the old Provincial or Burnley building societies of perhaps recognising a few characters.
Leon said: “Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm is a work of fiction, as the story comes from past murder cases and my imagination.
“But the characters are all assembled from real people.
“Former Burnley Building Society staff will remember some of the people who pop up, and ex Provincial Building Society staff may also recognise some of the character traits.
“The characters are all very much a mix n’ match of real people except for Harry Smith in York.
“Just like my old boss in York, he needed no veneer – he was a real character, and one to be taken in small doses.”
Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm follows the fortunes of financial advisor and property developer Ian Brown.
What was a fairly straight-forward and successful career begins to be questioned after an old flame re-emerges.
Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm is both riveting and intriguing as dark clouds begin to gather over what actually happened during the distant decades.
Leon added: “Ian is haunted by this lady he met in the course of his work in York.
“There was no lasting relationship, just two differing but incisive liaisons casting a shadow then and in the present.
“Against a backdrop of the 70s and 80s a complex web of circumstances weave an intriguing tale of human weakness and a streak of fate.”
Critics have been queuing up to praise Leon’s latest offering.
Reviewers have described Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm as ‘intriguing and enjoyable’, ‘keeps you guessing’ and ‘a good read’.
As with Leon’s previous two Wych Elm novels – In the Stars and Then and Now, Missing Vivienne: A Novel of Wych Elm I set primarily in Horwich, Greater Manchester.
Although this latest thriller is the third part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone novel.
