Herts writer inspired by geology past for hit book

Added: (Fri May 31 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - A former geologist from Hertfordshire is using the ground beneath his feet as inspiration for his second five-star novel.
Tony Halker has just released his latest sensational pre-history book, Displaced, to further critical acclaim.
And much of the father-of-two’s epic story is inspired by the exposed coastal rock formations where he enjoys walking.
The retired scientist, who lives near Watford, has already reached number two with Displaced in Amazon’s competitive Historical Fiction charts.
Tony said: “Half my working life was as a geologist – the other half as a business consultant.
“Landscape and life's issues inspire my writing.
“My geology really does inform what I put down on paper.
“The landscapes in Displaced are the ones I walk in, such as the Pembrokeshire and Anglesey Coastal Paths.
“I really am motivated by landscape and like to imagine people who were formed and affected by it.”
Displaced follows two Druid priests as they traverse dangerous and unwelcoming lands in search of answers.
In landscapes ruled by competing tribes and high priests, worship and sacrifice take precedence.
Displaced is a beautifully written epic and highly credible account of a way of life long before modern history.
Tony added: “Superstition, religion and ancestor beliefs have power for good and or evil, inflicting pain or kindness and sometimes both.
“Amongst the chaos pass our two priests, seeking to learn from and influence events.
“They love, make friends, struggle and fight to alter fate - meeting decent peoples whose belief and actions conflict with their own.
“These modern issues and events are played out in a landscape of our pre-history, one that we can see and touch today.”
Readers are queuing up to award Displaced five-star reviews since its recent release.
Tony’s second novel has been described as ‘… exceptional depth providing a vision of the land, the coast and the culture of the time’, and ‘… a brilliant novel from start to finish’.
Displaced has been described as ‘… a story of change with themes of migration and technological advance that resonate today’.
And ‘… a beautifully written historical fiction novel’.
