Grandmother’s tips on visiting Japan is hit book

A grandmother’s adventures in the Land of the Rising Sun have become the must-have travel guide for 2021.
Pamela Levene, who lives in Zichron Ya’akov in Israel, first visited Japan six years ago, when she was 64.
The former Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs secretary, who was involved in the Oslo Accords peace talks with Palestine, now regularly returns to the country of sushi, manga and cherry blossom ever since the initial trip.
And her real-time travel blogs have been turned into the chart-topping guide, A Golden Ager’s Guide to Japan: Alone in the Land of the Rising Sun.
The 70-year-old grandmother-of-eleven hopes her hugely enjoyable new book will inspire others to follow in her footsteps.

Pamela has only published A Golden Ager’s Guide to Japan: Alone in the Land of the Rising Sun in downloadable Kindle format to allow for the inclusion of slide shows and videos.
While the guide reads as much like a hugely entertaining travelogue, all of the information any future Japanese traveller needs is also packed between the covers.
Pamela added: “A Golden Ager’s Guide to Japan: Alone in the Land of the Rising Sun is the story of a pensioner travelling alone in Japan.
“It’s an account of a trip but also a guide for others planning, or dreaming of, a similar trip.”
As well as reaching number one in Amazon’s Japanese Travel chart, and also number two in the overall Travel lists, A Golden Ager’s Guide to Japan: Alone in the Land of the Rising Sun has received entirely five stars from readers.
Pamela’s book has been described as the ‘best travel guide I’ve ever read’, ‘a travellers dream’, and ‘entertained and informed simultaneously’.

As well as working as working as a government secretary, Pamela has also been a chicken farmer, an English language teacher, a tour guide and a cake maker.

Pamela hopes to one day turn her experiences from the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks into a book, but she is currently collating further travel logs for future guides.
