Pressbox (Press Release) -
A former town councillor from the West Midlands has his sights set on saving the world from outrageous aliens.
Richard Adamski was forced to retire on medical grounds from his working life in the local authority chambers.
But the 66-year-old, who kicked a drug habit earlier in his life, has used his newly found spare time to carve out a new career as a novelist.
Richard’s second book, Invasion, has just been released on the back of the success of his debut novel, Three Trees.
Invasion is a gripping and highly entertaining sci-fi thriller that is both original in concept and thought-provoking in its dilemmas.
Richard explained: “Invasion is set in the near future with alien invaders, called Shoggoths, annihilating all living things on the planet Earth with just one sweep of scientific technology.
“Two human survivors, Paul and Julie, are thrown together in the ensuing chaos that develops.
“With the help of a friendly alien, Zig-Rad, they face the nightmarish scientific forces that the Shoggoths throw at them.”
Invasion is a worrying foretelling of what could befall civilisation if aliens from other universes are further advanced than ourselves.
Like his debut novel, Three Trees, Invasion also carries strong moralistic messages throughout the thrilling narrative.
Richard, who lists the likes of Dennis Wheatley, H P Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe among his favourite authors, added: “Science has replaced the supernatural in Invasion and time is also used as a weapon.
“There is a reason.
“The crux of the Invasion story is that while life still exists on the planet, the Shoggoths cannot occupy the planet Earth.
“Their aim is for their craft to envelop the planet and be undetectable for billions of years, create a black hole and enter another universe.
“For the Shoggoths it will seem that no time has passed, but this cannot happen while the humans’ souls exist.”
Richard admits that he’s been a connoisseur of horror and suspense thrillers for decades.
