Retired school adviser Noah Kaindama, of Zambian ancestry, is on track for topping the charts and influencing future African leaders after beginning his writing career at Watford Junction Station.
The 65-year-old father-of-four has just released the gripping and thought-provoking sequel, The Real President II: Africa’s Last Line of Defence.
And it has already reached number four in Amazon’s Political Fiction chart.
Noah, who lists Barrack Obama, Malcom Gladwell and Chinua Achebe among his favourite authors, hopes both of his The Real President books will inspire the next generation of politicians in Africa.
He explained: “I do most of my writing from my study, however, I wrote the first draft chapter of The Real President at Watford Junction Station while waiting for a train!
“Both books are aimed at inspiring future leaders of Africa.
“The population of Africa is 1.25 billion and 60 percent are under 30 years old, so it is of utmost urgency to prepare this young population for leadership roles.
“The Real President and The Real President II are therefore aimed at individuals and organisations interested in promoting good governance and African led development for the people of Africa – from the African middle class to students, teachers, lecturers and academic departments.”
The Real President II: Africa’s Last Line of Defence follows the fortunes of Delilah Mashidika as she becomes the first female ruler of Lubanda, a fictional country in Africa.
But she also has to battle her own personal struggles as she attempts to steer the African nation towards a vibrant future.
The Real President II: Africa’s Last Line of Defence is an authoritative study of a woman overcoming her own demons to become a beacon of hope for a nation.
Noah, from Watford, admits much of his narrative derived from conversations with his four graduate children.
He explained: “The Real President: Africa’s Last Line of Defence examines a possible future where good leadership and citizenship is allowed to flourish in the fictional African country of Lubanda.
“It also shows how the struggles that one woman must endure to carry her country forward and bind the continent together.
“The idea for the sequel was inspired by fans who read the first book and asked for more.
“The main storyline was inspired by the conversations with my children who argued that something ought to be done to help improve leadership in Africa.
“I therefore hope these books will inspire the young generation.”
The former Hertfordshire school adviser, who was a prize-winning poet during his days at a teachers’ college, didn’t take up writing as a serious hobby until closer to his retirement from education.
