An inspiring debut collection of poetry from a courageous disabled London woman has gone straight to number one.
Geshi Kallychurn’s stunning anthology, The Journey of a Brave Girl, has reached the top of the Amazon’s poetry charts.
And the beautifully presented collection has also been met with a string of five-star reviews from captivated readers.
The Journey of a Brave Girl has been described by critics as ‘a pleasure to read’, ‘insightful’ and ‘highly recommended’.
Geshi said: “The Journey of a Brave Girl is a collection of poems about my own experiences and the challenges which I have had to endure throughout my life.
“I hope the poems demonstrate my experiences and my most intimate thoughts of how throughout I have managed to overcome the adversities I find myself confronted with.
“The poems describe how having a disability has impacted on my mental and emotional welfare.”
The Journey of a Brave Girl is a deeply personal journey of a teenager coming to terms with her disability, told through 31 emotionally charged poems.
From the depths of self-pity and misery to the highs of creative freedom and ambition, the 21-year-old’s poems are masterful in their storytelling yet thought-provoking in their themes.
Inspired by author Matt Haig and singers Anne-Marie and Sia, Geshi has clearly found her voice within the realms of verse.
She added: “Readers are given an insight into my thoughts and my quiet inner voice - the lack of self-esteem, the anxiety and the depression.
“But, as the poems throughout show, I manage to overcome the adversities that I am confronted with.
“My journey is an arduous one, and I continue to experience emotional and physical hurt, sorrow, self-doubt and endless feelings of solitude.
“However, my unfailing determination and bravery allows me to continue to fight the struggles that I find myself confronted with on a daily basis.
“This book aims to provide the reader with hope, helping them to acquire the necessary disposition to remain positive, throughout their own life journey, facing whatever life throws back at them and discover their own self-worth and ultimate happiness.”
Prior to completing The Journey of a Brave Girl collection, Geshi had several poems published in college magazines.
