Pressbox (Press Release) - A support worker from Greater Manchester has relived her harrowing childhood with the publication of her debut book.
Jennifer Miller’s gripping memoirs, Search for the Butterfly, has already reached the top ten in Amazon’s biography charts.
The disturbing story of family grief and sexual abuse has been described as ‘inspirational’ and ‘intimate’ by captivated readers.
For the mum-of-two author, Search for the Butterfly was a story that had to be told.
Jennifer, who eventually graduated with an Honours Degree, said: “This is the true story of a little girl born into grief-stricken circumstances, who was spoilt by tortuous abuse, and left with nothing but dread for her future.”
Search for the Butterfly is a compelling and brutally honest account of how tragedy leave’s Jennifer’s mother, Gwen, vulnerable.
And how an abuser infiltrates the family home.
While disturbing and graphic, Search for the Butterfly also provides an uplifting message of hope for any other survivors of abuse.
Jennifer, who lives in Rochdale, added: “Search for the Butterfly is also the story of how this little girl found the courage to not only fight for survival as a child, but later for the sake of her own children, take control of the viciously belligerent voices inside her head, and overcome her demons.
“Despite continuous heartaches and adversities, I find the resilience and determination to control my mental state and my spiritual journeys.
“I’ve managed to reclaim the concept of innocence for my own children, and break the cycle of despair that inflicted my family.”
Since the publication of Search for the Butterfly it has reached number three in Amazon’s Relationships charts and six in the online store’s Memoirs chart.
Readers have been queuing up to provide glowing five-star reviews, with Jennifer’s debut publication considered ‘brave’ and ‘emotional’.
Fellow reviewer Donald Darlington added: “A very brave and well written account of a child, overcoming life with the cruelty outside and the demons within.
“This is sincerely a gripping and inspirational read, authored by a stronger than you think and beautiful mother - well done you.”
