Pressbox (Press Release) -
A grandmother has proved that age is no barrier when it comes to writing edge-of-the-seat, explosive thrillers.
Evergreen Christine Long has just published her debut novel, Web of Lies, to critical acclaim from thrilled critics.
The octogenarian has produced a highly believable, psychological story that has been met with a string of five-star reviews.
Web of Lies has been described as a ‘great book’, and ‘a very good read’, with one reviewer claiming, ‘I was hooked’.
Reviewer Richard B stated: “It was an enjoyable and believable novel’.
Christine, from Buckinghamshire, has previously published poetry and children’s stories and believes her character-led novel will appeal to readers of all ages.
She said: “Web of Lies tells the story of married couple, Jake and Kate, who appear to have everything going for them.
“But Jake’s world falls apart when he discovers his wife’s affair.
“Not only does he lose his wife, but also his house and his job – quickly becoming the man he never wanted to be.
“Web of Lies is a book about ordinary people.”
Christine’s story is both gripping and unpredictable.
As her protagonist ends up in prison another woman enters his life – and so does a plan.
Christine, who has previously honed her craft as a member of writing groups, added: “Jake’s story is one of a man whose world falls apart.
“Prison soon teaches him that one man is responsible for almost all of his bad luck, and that the only option open to him is revenge.”
Christine, who has four great grandsons and four granddaughters, ranks the publication of Web of Lies alongside winning a ballroom dancing medal as her greatest achievements.
She continues to spend her mornings writing in her study, but she has yet to announce if there will be a sequel to Web of Lies.
